Romantic Paris Photo Shoot on a Misty Morning

The misty October weather made for a dreamy, romantic feel for this couple’s anniversary photo session in Paris!

Emily and Philip came to Paris for their second wedding anniversary, and they reached out to me to plan a romantic photo shoot to celebrate!

We decided to start our session at the iconic Bir-Hakeim bridge, with its elegant iron structure and views of the nearby Eiffel Tower. Emily arrived wearing a stunning red dress that popped beautifully against the bridge and the grey Parisian sky!

The weather forecast looked like it might rain, so I let the couple know that I would bring my favorite photo-shoot-friendly transparent umbrella with me in case we needed it. But when the morning came, Paris gave us mist instead. You never quite know whether mist will turn into rain, so I still brought the umbrella. I like to be prepared! But we never ended up wanting to use it. Instead, Emily and Philip leaned into the misty vibe, and we ended up with photos that were all the more romantic because of it!

The grey skies and mist added to the intimate atmosphere of the photo session.

We got a moody rainy vibe, but without all the hassle of actual downpours! The mist gave this couple a reason to snuggle close and share sweet moments together, but also to spend some time being playful and dancing in the (almost) rain!

Many of my clients worry about the potential for bad weather during their Paris photo shoot, and especially about the possibility of rain. And I completely understand that getting soaked isn’t always the ideal! That said, there is something extra romantic about Paris in the rain. I love getting to photograph love stories with that backdrop. It always feels a bit like being in a movie to me!

In this case, I think we got very lucky with the mist. It gave us all the romantic drama of a rainy day photo shoot, but without actually being drenched the whole time. The perfect mix!
