When the Plans Change: Incorporating a Pregnancy Announcement into a Couple’s Photography Session

Their couples’ photoshoot turned into a pregnancy announcement too with a sonogram they brought from home!

Alyssa and Christopher are a laid back, loving, and energetic couple who contacted me for a short couples’ photo session during their trip to France. When they first reached out to book their photo session with me, they wanted romantic photos to commemorate their trip. But by the time they arrived in Paris, our plans had shifted a little bit. Why? Because they found out they were expecting!

They still wanted to mainly do a couples’ photo shoot, but they also wanted to commemorate this huge moment in their lives. And since they were in the early days of pregnancy, they hadn’t yet shared the news with their family and friends! They had a sonogram appointment before traveling to Paris, so they were able to bring their sonogram photos with them on their trip.

Amidst our romantic photos around the Eiffel Tower, we set aside some time to incorporate the sonogram into our photoshoot. We took pictures they could use as announcement photos to tell their family and friends, and of course to keep as memories for the years, too. It makes me so happy to imagine their baby looking back at these photos someday—and maybe even traveling to Paris years from now and standing in the same spot on the Bir-Hakeim bridge!

There was so much love and joy in this session. I loved being able to highlight their natural connection they share as a couple, and to capture the happiness and excitement of this moment in their lives!
