Autumn Engagement Shoot with Alison and Marty
I was so thrilled to get to take engagement photos with this fun-loving couple when they came to Paris!
Alison and Marty had already decided to visit Paris when Marty proposed in their hometown of Montreal. When they got here, they reached out to me to take engagement photos with them while they were in France!
We met this week on a cold November afternoon. It had been raining all morning, but the skies cleared up just in time. It wasn’t exactly warm out, though—a balmy 40º F (about 5º C)! Luckily, this Canadian couple wasn’t phased by the cold at all: they arrived excited and dressed for the weather, and we got right to it!
We started our shoot at Place du Trocadéro, with its classic view of the Eiffel Tower. As soon as we got a few shots they loved there, Alison and Marty told me they wanted to do something a little less classically Paris. They wanted some Eiffel Tower, but not only Eiffel Tower.
After talking through some different options, we ended up taking a short walk through Paris’s 16th arrondisssement, and we got a variety of different looks in just one photo shoot!
In just an hour, we went from a classic Trocadero shoot to a hidden park not too far away, where the leaves have been turning some beautiful, bright fall colors. After that, we went to one of my favorite side streets in the 16th arrondissement for a different Eiffel Tower view and some portraits in front of the Haussmannian architecture, and finally we walked down to the Seine river for some more photos right before sunset!
I’m so grateful to have gotten to spend this time creating memories with this fun-loving couple and taking engagement photos for them in Paris that I hope they’ll treasure forever.
I loved that Alison and Marty had an idea of the kinds of photos they wanted to take, and I’m glad I got to show them some corners of Paris that I don’t shoot quite as often. In the end, we got so many different pictures mixing the typically Parisian shots I always love with some perfect fall vibes—plus a few more unexpected shots mixed in. We had so much fun together, and I think it shows in the photos!
