Frequently Asked Questions

I always like to know a little bit about you before our shoot—but don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you’ve got homework to do!

I’ll ask you a few quick questions during booking about your relationship, and about what you’re dreaming of for your Amsterdam photo shoot. I’ll start to plan based on that, and we can nail down any additional details via email as well. I’m also available for a video call at any stage of planning if you’d like to chat in real time!

Oh, and if you’re a Pinterest person, a mood board person, an “I have this wild idea and I would love to see if we can make it happen” person? Yes please, send it all my way!

We usually get the very best light when the sun is low in the sky, so either shortly after sunrise, or just before sunset. In general, I’d recommend mornings until around ~10:30 am, or afternoons from about 3:00 pm onwards.

If you’ve got your heart set on a specific well-loved location like the Rijksmuseum, I’d recommend as early in the morning as you can muster, because it can get crowded later in the day.

But Amsterdam has lots of beautiful canals and city streets that are quieter even in the middle of the day, so we can always find a location that will work well with your schedule! Either way, we’ll have a great time and get some amazing photos!

A thousand times yes! It’s incredibly important to me that everybody feels safe and welcome working with me. I love getting to work with clients who identify all across the spectrums of sexuality, gender, and relationships.

As for Amsterdam, this is a very LGBT-friendly city, and a great place for queer people to live and thrive! Amsterdam is known for having one of the best pride celebrations in Europe, and you’ll see lots of rainbow flags around the city if you keep an eye out. Amsterdam welcomes the LGBTQIA+ community and is a safe and friendly place for queer people to exist and love each other in public.

Above all else, pick clothes that make you feel great, and that you’ll want to remember!

For Amsterdam specifically, the backgrounds can be colorful, and the city’s architecture has a lot of warm brick tones and shades of black and grey. Plus lots of green from the city’s vibrant gardening culture, too! This means that neutral colors like black, brown, camel, and cream will look harmonious with the surroundings, and bright or very light colors will help you stand out from the background and pop!

Especially because Amsterdam has so much going on on its own, I generally recommend clothes with either solid colors or bigger patterns, since intricate patterns and thin stripes or checkers can sometimes look busy. Big logos can draw a lot of attention in a photo, too, so I’d generally discourage it unless it’s a purposeful choice.

I am happy to provide feedback on colors and outfits as we plan. But ultimately, you’re going to look best in whatever makes you feel best—so when in doubt, go for that!

Lastly, keep in mind that many of the streets here are cobblestone or brick, so if you are going to wear shoes that are not comfortable for walking (eg. high heels), I’d recommend bringing shoes you can walk in, too, so we can move around a bit!

Amsterdam is often a rainy and/or windy city, especially in the winter! The weather is part of its character, and as long as the rain is on the lighter side, it’s usually something we can work with. In fact, an umbrella can be a fun and romantic prop! However, in the event of severe rain or storms, we can either relocate to somewhere protected (eg. cafes, your hotel, etc.) or reschedule your shoot for another time.

If something else happens to either of us, like missed flights, injuries, strikes, or other disasters, we can either cancel or reschedule depending on circumstances.

The sooner the better, but there’s no wrong time!

My online booking calendar is usually open about 4-6 months in advance at a time, but if you’re planning further ahead, please get in touch and I’ll get back to you with availability.

And if you’re whipping up a spur-of-the-moment plan, don’t let that stop you from reaching out. Last minute is fine too if my availability allows!

1. Book your shoot

Once you choose your package and submit a booking form here, you’ll automatically receive an email with a link to my calendar to pick your date!

3. Sign your Contract & Pay 40% deposit

Once you’ve chosen your date, you’ll get another email from me with a link to a contract and deposit invoice. You can sign and pay online, and then you will be officially booked—yay!

2. I’ll pop into your inbox

You’ll get an email from me to confirm details and address any questions you may have left for me while booking!

We can schedule an optional video call if you’d like to chat in real time, or we can stick to email if you prefer.

4. Checking in

I’ll check in with you as your Amsterdam photo shoot approaches. You’ll get all the key information from me before the day!

5. We take some beautiful photos!

Whether it’s a short photo session or a full day gallivanting around Amsterdam, we’ll have a great time!

6. You’ve got mail

You’ll get a few sneak peek photos from me within 2 days after your photo shoot, so you can get excited and share with family and friends! Your full gallery will be in your inbox in about 2 weeks.

7. Let’s stay in touch?
