At the very end of May, I met up with model S. and hair and makeup artist Emeline Ciani for a test shoot/mini editorial. We had an amazing time shooting together, and we produced some beautiful portraits and fashion shots that we were all really proud of!
After keeping the shoot under wraps for a while, I got word from Obscurae Magazine that they liked the photos and wanted to put our shoot on the online section of their features!

I was so honored and excited to see their six-photo feature pop up this week! Now that they’re out in the world, I can’t wait for you to see more of my favorite images from this amazing shoot!
Update (May 2020): Unfortunately, Obscurae Magazine has been discontinued. We’re sorry to see them go! I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to be published by them before they went. Many thanks to Obscurae for being such an inspiring place for fashion photography for several years!
Here are the original six photos the magazine featured from this mini editorial:

We planned this Parisian fashion photoshoot for a sunny afternoon at the Bibliothèque Nationale Française (BNF). S., Emeline and I incorporated a couple outfit variations and two subtly different makeup looks with a fresh and natural feel.
The initial makeup and outfit prep took a little less than an hour. When the look was complete, we got to shoot for 2.5 hours in various places around the BNF, with pauses for outfit changes and makeup touchups.

I really love shooting at this location—there’s so much variety to work with! And there’s even more in this area than what we had the time to do in 2.5 hours. The BNF is a very Parisian place, but as a photoshoot location it’s off the beaten track. It’s definitely got a more of a big-city vibe than what most people think of when they first think Paris. Just goes to show how versatile this city can be for photos!
And here are some more of my favorite photos from the day:
