I was lucky enough to do two yoga portrait sessions with yoga teacher, fashion designer, mom, and entrepreneur Gifty Akorpha Quarshie while she was visiting Paris. She was so fun to work with, and I’m still in awe of her flexibility and poise!

Studio Portrait Photography: Misty Pink Backlighting with Anna Hrehlevych
To create this misty, gradient effect in the background, we sprayed mist from a can to catch the pink light from studio lights with colored gels on them from either side. This shoot was part of a 4-person collaborative workshop organized by Frank Denis of Pretty Simple Images, so we had enough people on set to manually spray cans of mist from each side (one can in each hand!) while I shot these photos. I love the way the pink lights worked as key lights on her right side especially (viewer’s left) and throughout her hair, too.
