From the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre: A Gay Couple’s Morning Photo Shoot in Iconic Paris
The sun had barely risen as I made my way to meet this amazing gay couple for their photo shoot in Paris. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning!
Brayan and his husband Luke had eloped two years ago, but their elopement hadn’t involved much photography, and they had never done a big photo shoot together. They had decided to come to Paris for the Taylor Swift concert, and what better way to commemorate the trip and celebrate their love than with a fun and relaxed photo shoot? I was so excited that they reached out about a couple’s photo session with me!
An Authentic Approach to Photographing Love
While we chose classic Paris locations for our photo shoot, Luke and Brayan didn’t want to be overly cheesy, overly posed, or photographed in any way that didn’t feel like them. My priority was capturing the genuine connection between these two men, and portraying their love as authentically as possible. So we leaned into movement and shared moments as much as we could! I gave them prompts and ideas along the way, so they weren’t at a loss for what to do, of course. But we stayed away from stiff posing or anything that didn’t feel natural to them. The goal was to let their real dynamic shine through!
Our Photography Route Through Paris: Iconic Parisian Monuments for an Iconic Love
We started our session at Trocadero, with its iconic Eiffel Tower view. Despite the early morning start after a concert the night before, this couple was ready for the camera from the get-go! I loved how at ease they were with each other, whether they were sharing loving glances, goofing around together, or having a more serious moment.
From Trocadero, we moved on to Avenue des Camoëns, and eventually walked down towards the Seine River and the Bir-Hakeim bridge, which provided a picturesque backdrop for some more intimate shots with fewer people around us. Plus, that soft morning light coming over the water and through the trees was just stunning!
Finally, we made our way towards the Louvre area, our final location. The energy was still high and the laughter infectious, especially when the couple decided they wanted to jump in the air together for a final photo! By this point, the sun was a little higher in the sky, so we got a different and more dramatic lighting vibe than we had in the early morning. I loved getting to capture so much variety in just one photo shoot with them!
I was so honored to be able to document Luke and Brayans love for them while they were in Paris! It was truly a pleasure to work with such a fun and laid-back pair, and I hope that they’ll treasure the images we created together for years to come.
Cheers to this incredible duo, and to many more adventures and memories together!
